Moscow is under construction. And we are also reconstructing our website. Starting on April, the new version will feature.
"The Era of Agglomerations. A New Map of the World". The Theme and Date of Moscow Urban Forum 2017 have been Decided.
Moscow Urban Forum 2017 will be held on July 6–12 at VDNH, and now the new concept and dates for the event have been approved by the Supervisory Board of the ANO Moscow Urban Forum, chaired by the Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin.
The theme of the 7th MUF — The Era of Agglomerations. A New Map of the World — will initiate a dialogue on the development of global megacities, and their impact on surrounding areas and the agglomeration development as a key driver of the national and global economy. For two days, July 6 and 7, Russian and international experts, urbanists, sociologists, economists, and government officials will be discussing the best urban solutions and the most effective change management models for the world's largest cities, as well as outlining approaches to the strategic planning and management of the Moscow agglomeration.
As Marat Khusnullin, Moscow Deputy Mayor for Urban Development and Construction and Head of the MUF Executive Committee stated, "the subject of the 2017 Forum addresses one of the most topical phenomena in modern urbanism – the formation of city agglomerations. Twenty-two of these are located in Russia. Each of them are characterised by rapid development of the transport infrastructures, housing construction and the creation of new jobs. Each agglomeration is unique and has its own development practices. The Moscow agglomeration is the largest and most significant macroregion of Russia. The best global practices are of course noteworthy as well".
The Forum will continue with the large-scale format and auditorium transformation begun in 2016. The business programme events will become more dynamic and informal, and include public interviews, author presentations, speeches by top speakers and expert discussions at both the Forum venue and online, using direct video conferences from different parts of Moscow and the world. The most fundamentally new format of 2017 is MUF Experimental Laboratories, a multidisciplinary two-week workshop that will bring together promising young Russian and foreign specialists and world-renowned curators. Its purpose is to elaborate on Moscow development project proposals, and the best ones will be presented at the closing sessions of the Forum. The festival programme will be open to the public and will provide a platform for urban communities to discuss effective participation in the life of the city and present their own projects.
VDNH Pavilion No. 75 is the new Forum venue, and there are plans to transform it into a hybrid space by integrating technological studios, business communication spots, and a large-scale exposition presenting Moscow development projects, as well as major urban and development projects in Russia and partner countries. The Forum exposition will be open to the public for seven days through July 12.
