One Click City. How Technology Changes Our Lives

In the last five years, Moscow has seen the number of digital services and apps multiply roughly 15 times and every second Muscovite become an avid user of digital city services. Consumer-centric approach and mass digitalisation are shaping the new demand for participation in the city’s decision making: it must be user-friendly, easy to use and offer quick response. The efforts have received a positive response: Muscovites use apps to participate in online referendums, notify the city about urban problems or promptly resolve everyday issues.

  • What is Moscow's strategy for developing city digital services further? What other aspects of urban life can be digitised?
  • How can we bring together the government and the civic society in one app? Can it stimulate civic engagement?
  • Is it possible for the city to be governed through social networks?
