At some point, the golden age of good neighborly relationships, where people from one house would sit and play chess in the courtyard for hours, or take turns babysitting their grandchildren, came to a stop. Now it isn’t odd to not even know your neighbors. The creation of neighborhood Facebook groups, local internet newsletters and small local events, such as fun-runs or neighborhood dinners, offer new hope for our current stage. Which neighborhoods forge strong local communities? What role does neighborhood media play in this process? At what point does online communication turn into real-world communication? How do initiative groups ready to invest their time in their neighborhood development emerge?
