DISCUSSION: THE FOURTH PLACE. WHY AND WHAT FOR MOSCOVITES ARE LEAVING THE CITY?

The first place is the house, the second is work, the third place is the place of casual encounters, but there is a need to have the fourth place. This is where a person finds balance and inner silence. The image of a modern village is increasingly captivating people and businesses during the last five-year plan:

  • Strong trend on suburban life and a new type of suburban leisure of the townspeople forms demand
  • A growing popularity of weekend car tourism, farm products, city-farming and eco-lifestyle
  • A request is being made for quality time and a new type of dwelling on the nature is different from the dacha farm
  • A trend is developing on co-working residences, weekend stratum-sessions and trainings for the corporate sector
Projects are actively developing with a pronounced emphasis on suburban life, good neighborliness, micro-communities of interests and adherence to the place, history and landscape. In search of self-identification, Russians are increasingly searching for a "place of power". The dacha culture, especially well developed in Russia, requires rethinking and restarting for a new audience that grows up and becomes more prosperous.
