The rapid growth of population, global warming, rising ocean levels makes the governments of small island states that are particularly at risk of global disasters countries to look for alternative solutions. The authorities of French Polynesia have signed a long-term contract with The Seasteading Institute for the construction of the world's first floating city, which will be constructed by 2020.
