Sergey Kuznetsov: "Zaryadye" Park Became the No. 1 Location for Foreign Football Fans

The discussion of the holding of the football World Cup in Russia featured the participation of Head of the Moscow Department of Sport and Tourism  Nikolay Gulyaev, Chief Architect of Moscow   Sergey Kuznetsov, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bosco di Ciliegi group of companies Mikhail Kusnirovich, President of Habidatum Alexei Novikov, restaurateur Alexandr Zaitsev, and Operational Director of the Megafon communications operator Anna Serebryanikova.

 Head of the Moscow Department of Sport and Tourism Nikolay Gulyaev stated that during the World Cup 2018 everything went as smoothly as possible, and that it was one of the best championships in FIFA’s history.

 He stressed that the number of visitors to the city changed insignificantly compared to last year, but the profile of guests changed. This year was the first time that such a large number of residents of distant countries came to Russia. More than 1.2 million people attended the World Cup, everyone was happy and many want to come back again.

Luzhniki Stadium comfortably accommodates up to 81 thousand people. Chief Architect of Moscow Sergey Kuznetsov said that Zaryadye Park became the No. 1 location for foreign fans, even coming ahead of the Kremlin. He noted that the capital has very developed transport infrastructure and the World Cup only confirmed this. Speaking about the Luzhniki Stadium, in practice it was evident that it can comfortably accommodate 81 thousand people. At the same time, all of these facilities would also have been built without the World Cup. Sergey Kuznetsov also noted that after reconstruction the Luzhniki Stadium’s capacity increased ten-fold.

According to President of Habidatum Alexei Novikov, consumption of food and beer inside the Boulevard Ring grew by around 60 percent during the championship. I.e. the commercial potential of the venue grew approximately two-fold during the event.

Nikolskaya Ulitsa became a terrific symbol of the championship in Russia

Big brands have been cooperating with sports events for a very, very long time, said Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bosco di Ciliegi group of companies Mikhail Kusnirovich. During the World Cup Louis Vuitton sales grew several times, and the capital's GUM was visited by 2.3 million people during a month. In an ordinary month the country’s main department store is visited by up to 1.2 million people.

Mikhail Kusnirovich added that the phenomenon of Nikolskaya Ulitsa also become a terrific symbol of the championship in Russia. And the Luzhniki Stadium is the best and most unique sports complex that he has encountered.

Today football is a completely digital story, believes Operating Director of the Megafon communications operator Anna Serebryanikova. She noted that the operator's infrastructure withstood all of the stresses that occurred during the World Cup. Preparations were made over a period of two years. During the championship the Megafon mobile network was used by residents of 150 countries. During the championship, the operator was primarily joined by citizens of the USA, Israel, France, Sweden and China.  The expert added that a study of traffic showed that when a team wins its fans exchange more photos, when they lose they talk more on the phone.
