One of the leading urbanists in the world, an entrepreneur and founder of the Creative Class Group, Richard Florida will give a presentation on 18 July as part of the business programme of the Moscow Urban Forum and will deliver the opening lecture in the park "Zaryadye" for visitors to the Festival MUF FEST 2018.
Florida is best known as the author of the theory of the creative class. According to his research, a key factor in the successful economic development of cities and regions is the creative elite. This idea is expressed in several global bestsellers, including "The Rise of The Creative Class" (2002),"Who's Your City?" (2008).
According to a study conducted by MIT in 2013, Florida was named the world’s most influential thought leader. TIME magazine recognized his Twitter feed as one of the 140 most influential in the world.
Within the Moscow Urban Forum 2018, Florida will present “The New Urban Crisis" (2017), which has already become a world bestseller. A book specifically for The Moscow Urban Forum will be translated into the Russian language and will be available on the site of MUF 2018.
Also, Florida is a researcher and professor, serving as University Professor and Director of Cities at the Martin Prosperity Institute at the University of Toronto, a Distinguished Fellow at New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate, Visiting Fellow at Florida International University and Lead Researcher, Project Strategy Director for the FIU Miami Urban Future Initiative.
In addition, Florida is co-founder and senior editor at The Atlantic and serves as Editor-at-Large for CityLab.
