Health has become a priority for urban development, affecting quality of life, social well-being, and economic growth. One approach in creating a healthy and ecological environment is a salutogenic design. Its aim is to reduce anxiety through positive stimuli from the environment and create solutions that motivate urban residents to live healthy lives and professionals to look for new design models, building and production systems, materials and technologies. Population density, proximity to nature, daylight and lighting, noise levels – these and other factors influence the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases. Alan Dilani, founder of the International Academy of Health and Design, will present the principles of salutogenic design.
  • How can we engage health care, science, and innovation in the creation of a healthy urban environment?
  • How can we plan for urban infrastructure such as homes, schools, offices, health, and community facilities – to be successful in supporting people’s health and well-being?
  • How can we implement science-based design that promotes healthy lifestyles and well-being?
