Corporate Capital. How Global Businesses Cooperate with Cities

#Panel discussion #Transformation of Urban Environment and Housing
02 July
11:45–12:45
Orion Hall
International corporations are key players in the global economy, upon which more than 70% of the world’s trade relations, specialized research, and development depend. Corporations bring money, development, talent, infrastructure development, and city status to the international market. In addition to influencing mega-cities themselves, corporations are also active in developing urban agglomerations and neighboring regions, consuming their products and creating jobs. In a global crisis, they affect cities by stopping and resuming production. As part of this session, experts will discuss the role of corporations in the development of urban economies and infrastructure.
  • What role do international corporations play in the megacity’s development? How do they affect relations between global megacities?
  • How do international corporations choose cities to place their offices and manufactures at?
  • Do megacities need to make efforts to attract international corporations? What positive and negative effects might their presence in cities have?
