Culture of Kindness. How Volunteerism Transforms the City

#Panel discussion #Transformation of Urban Culture and Social Well-Being
02 July
15:45–16:45
Centaurus Hall
Volunteering is becoming a must-have activity for modern megacity residents. Governments, businesses, and non-profit companies have joined in their efforts to support socially significant projects and transform the urban environment. Studies have shown that people who are engaged in volunteering activities are less likely to suffer from cardiovascular diseases and have significantly lower levels of anxiety. The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic united millions of citizens and marked the rise of volunteerism: volunteers helped doctors, retirees, and people with limited mobility. Today, every resident of a megacity has a chance to contribute to creating a fairer community. From helping social centers and charities to developing own initiatives.
  • What kind of challenges are social projects facing in the modern world? How has the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the development of volunteer initiatives?
  • What instruments do leading NPOs use to engage citizens in volunteering activities?
  • What volunteer initiatives align with the 15-minute city concept and help improve the quality of life in city districts?
