For the first time within the framework of the Forum, an educational format will be developed and tested for communication between the Departments and the future creators of the urban projects, products and services.
A brand new format for the 2017 forum — MUF Experimental Labs (July 3-7). These are three research workshops on Mobility and Transport, Housing and Constructions and Quality of Life, bringing together more than 50 urban development experts and technological entrepreneurs on the Forum platform. The Labs’ competition tasks created with the direct involvement of the Moscow City Government, will enable participants to understand the city’s real needs and offer relevant hi-tech solutions. The final projects of the Labs will be presented as part of the final presentation on July 7 and will also be on show at the Labs exhibition stand, which will share space with the MUF Expo.
"The experience of many global megacities shows how important the city’s technological development is. Departments in many large cities include a city Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in their mandatory management structure. Therefore, we decided to organize a special strategical session as part of the MUF on introducing technological innovations into Moscow’s policies regarding transport, construction and living environment. The task facing the innovation teams of the Experimental Labs is to form technological products relevant for introducing into the city’s systems. This does not mean that Moscow must have a CTO, but these projects allow for a meaningful dialog on the technological improvement of the city’s functions to continue even after the Forum", said Bulat Stolyarov, Head of MUF17 Program Directorate.
