Dr. Aisha Bin Bishr, Director General of the Smart Dubai Office, a public initiative aimed at supporting the Emirate's digital transformation, is to give a talk at the Moscow Urban Forum 2018. The lecture of this leading technology expert will be held on the first day of the Forum's Business Programme, 17 July.
Dubai authorities intend to make the Emirate of Dubai the capital of blockchain technology. By 2020, most government services will have switched to a distributed register, and businesses will have started using smart contracts. Dubai was the world's first city to provide support to blockchain at government level.
"By 2020, we want to make Dubai the world's first city having a blockchain-powered government," said Aisha Bin Bishr. "This technology will radically change all existing systems while helping us prepare for the future." The government of Dubai will also create a platform, Blockchain as a Service, designed to enable government institutions to implement the technology into their work. The use of innovative technology in government institutions has now become the norm in Dubai. Smart Dubai has recently set up a laboratory aimed at training government officials to handle artificial intelligence.
"To move forward into the future, we have to reconsider the government's work and introduce artificial intelligence to the services we offer," said Dr. Bin Bishr. "We want to replace call centres and help parents to choose schools for their children by using cognitive computing."
Dr. Aisha is also at the helm of another project, The Smart City Index, which is a unique platform for implementing the concept of the "smart city" throughout the world, in cooperation with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the UN. As an internationally renowned expert in digital transformation and smart cities, she represents Smart Dubai at the City Protocol Society, the Smart City Expo World Congress and the GSMA Mobile World Congress.
Besides, Dr. Aisha is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council and a team member of the Fourth Industrial Revolution’s Smart Cities Readiness Index. She heads the Council of Happy Cities within the World Happiness Council. Aisha Bin Bishr also holds the post of Non-Executive Director of Emaar Developments.
Dr. Aisha holds a PhD in Management, Science, Technology and Innovation and an MPhil in Policy and Research on Engineering, Science and Technology from The Manchester Business School.
