Yasushi Aoyama is a Professor at the Graduate School of Governance Studies at Meiji University and a Doctor of Political Science. His courses focus on international politics,
crisis management and disaster relief methods. He led several departments over
the course of 32 years of service in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government,
including the Bureau of Economic Affairs, the Bureau of Urban Development, the
Bureau of Political Affairs and Urban Planning, the Bureau of Social Welfare
and Public Health. Aoyama served as Vice Governor in the Tokyo Metropolitan
Government in 1999-2003. He participated in disaster relief and emergency relocation
after the Miyakejima volcanic eruption in Tokyo
Prefecture in 2000.
