Alan Mitchell

Mr. Mitchell has over 30 years of experience in working for and with government organizations and agencies in a variety of capacities, from developing information technology approaches to business transformation strategies. Over the last 20 years, Mr. Mitchell has specialized in the development of program/service models for mapping out the business of local, regional, county and district governments. In this capacity, Mr. Mitchell has worked with approximately 40 government organizations defining profiles of programs, services, resources and activities in support of various transformation initiatives. 

Mr. Mitchell is one of the leading architects of the Municipal Reference Model (MRM) owned by the Municipal Information Systems Association (MISA) of Canada/Association des systèmes d'information municipale Canada (ASIM). In addition, Mr. Mitchell is an accomplished management consultant and business architect in the use of such tools as the Governments of Canada Strategic Reference Model (GSRM), the Business Transformation Enablement Program (BTEP) and its adapted versions, the Ontario Public Service Reference Model (PSRM) and Ontario’s Enterprise Architecture Process Manual (EAPM) used to develop business and information technology tools.

Mr. Mitchell is a member of the Municipal Information Systems Association (MISA) and a founding member of the Urban & Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) – Ontario Chapter. He was awarded the Peter Bennett Award for valued contribution to the Canadian municipal ICT community, while exemplifying Peter Bennett’s spirit of demonstrated leadership and working “beyond the call” with humour and humanity.
