Alexandr Auzan

Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Moscow State University, Founder of the Institute of National Projects

Aleksandr Auzan is the dean of the faculty of economics in the Moscow State University, professor and founder of the Institute of National Projects.

Auzan graduated from Moscow State University, Faculty of Economics, holds a doctorate in economics. In the late 1980s, he helped to spearhead the creation of consumer protection societies and was a member of the Bureau of the Council of the international consumers' organisation Consumers International. From 2005 to 2011, he headed the Association of Russian Economic Think Tanks (ARETT).

Aleksandr Auzan was a member of the Presidential Commission for Modernisation and Technological Development of the Russian Economy and the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights. Author of over one hundred academic research papers, including four monographs. He regularly publishes articles, gives interviews to the media, and lectures on the modernisation of the economy, socio-cultural values and the dynamics of the social contract. He has many years of practical experience in advising national and regional governments. Thus, from 2011 to 2012, he headed the Expert Group "Optimising the state presence: reduction of regulatory functions, ensuring transparency and feedback to citizens and businesses" as part of the Strategy 2020 update.  

Auzan is currently a member of the Economic Council under the President of the Russian Federation, the Expert Council under the Government of the Russian Federation and the governing bodies of the following organisations: member of the Board of Directors of PAO Severstal, RVC (JSC), PJSC Rostelecom.
