Caroline Knowles is Professor of Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London and the Programme Director for the British Academy Cities and Infrastructure Programme. This funds multi-disciplinary teams of researchers in the UK who are working on solutions to a wide range of issues that impact cities in the poorest countries in the global south. Caroline is the author of her latest book “Flip-Flop: A Journey through Globalisation’s Backroads” (Pluto Press, 2014) and coauthor, with photographer Douglas Harper of “Hong Kong: Migrant Lives, Landscapes and Journeys” (the University of Chicago Press, 2009).
Knowles is the author of many other books and papers dealing with various aspects of city life. Her current research project is an investigation of the London super rich.
