Sergey Kalinin has made significant contributions to the development of the modern appearance of Moscow with the construction of iconic urban sites, including Wine House, Literator, Heritage, and the preservation of architectural monuments, including the Central Children's Shop on Lubyanka, the Beijing Hotel, Theatrical House on Povarskaya Street, and others. 

Sergey Kalinin is No. 1 in the annual rating of leaders in the construction industry for the Top 1,000 Russian Managers Rating of the Kommersant newspaper.

Hals-Development PJSC is included in the Top 5 Largest Moscow Developers. The company's total volume of development projects is 1.6 mln sq.m. The main shareholder of the company is VTB Bank. 

Sergey graduated from the Journalism Department of Moscow State University, and later received an MBA in Marketing from the American Institute of Business and Economics.
