Dato’ Nor Hisham was appointed as the 12th Mayor of Kuala Lumpur effective from October 1st, 2018. He was the President of Subang Jaya Municipal Council before being appointed as Mayor of Kuala Lumpur.
Nor Hisham holds a degree in Library Sciences from MARA Institute of Technology and graduated in 1980. He received master’s degree from Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom on Environmental Planning.
He started as a librarian at MARA Institute of Technology in 1980. Then in 1981, he was appointed as Assistant Director at Public Services Department until 1987. Starting from 1988, he was appointed as Assistant District Officer of Gombak District and Land Office, Selangor until 1992. Nor Hisham was then transferred to Housing Department, Ministry of Housing and Local Government from 1995 until 2002 as Principal Director. In 2002, he was appointed as Principal Director at Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department. He was then transferred to the Development and Procurement Division, Ministry of Education as Principal Director from 2002 until 2005. After the span of three years, he was transferred to the Development Division, Ministry of Federal Territory in 2005. In 2007, he was appointed as District Officer at Hulu Selangor District and Land Office until 2012 and then appointed as the District Officer at Gombak District and Land Office until 2014.
