Joost Ector graduated from the Eindhoven University of Technology in 1996 and joined immediately afterwards the Rotterdam architect Jan Hoogstad. In 2002 he became the owner of the company, which soon after led to the change of name to Ector Hoogstad Architects. The architecture practice currently has 5 managing partners and has around 50 employees and designs for all sectors, with an emphasis on complex, often public design assignments. In recent years, there have been large-scale projects for various Dutch universities, cultural buildings, a large number of transformation projects as well as the 'largest bicycle parking facility in the world', which is currently being built as part of the new Stationsplein in Utrecht. Joost also writes a permanent column for Architectenweb.nl.
