Dinah Bornat is an architect, urban designer, researcher and engagement specialist. She is a co-director of ZCD Architects in London. Dinah is a leading expert on child friendly cities and involved in developing policy and guidance, design best practice and youth engagement. She is widely published and a regular speaker on the subject of designing cities with and for children and young people.
ZCD Architects are using their design and engagement expertise on a number of medium and large scale regeneration projects in the UK, helping shape new neighbourhoods and bringing the voice of young people to the process.
Dinah has co-authored ‘Voice Opportunity Power’ with Matt Bell from Grosvenor GBI, a free to download toolkit for quality youth engagement. She is a Mayor’s Design Advocate for the Mayor of London and advises a number of local authorities in the capital. In addition she is an external examiner at Cardiff University, a Built Environment Expert for the Design Council and an Associate at the Quality of Life Foundation.
She has given talks for New London Architecture, Urban Design London, the London Development Conference, Homes England, Arup Associates, GLA, NIUA Delhi, Future Build, Festival of Place, Child in the City and many others.
