Tzu-Yuan Stessa Chao

Professor, Head of Department of Urban Planning, NCKU; the Author of ‘Planning for Greying Cities. Age-Friendly City Planning and Design Research and Practice’
Professor and Head of Department of Urban Planning and a research fellow at Healthy Cities Research Centre, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. She holds PhD from University of Nottingham and Master of City Planning (MCP) from University of Pennsylvania. Her work covers age-friendly environment, urban and territorial planning regulation, urban regeneration, and urban health in Taiwan and East Asia. She is in the Board of Alliance for Healthy Cities Taiwan. She was the PI of the first national age-friendly cities project in Taiwan and has strong international academic collaboration with South Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong. She is very active in both planning law and healthy cities & age-friendly cities research international societies. She published 20+ of journal articles and book chapters in the past five years. Her latest full book titled Planning for Greying Cities (2018) was published as the first ageing society book from planning and design perspectives.
